About
The project proposes a contemporary kindergarten in Khidistavi, conceived as a spatial organism organized around a central, light-filled courtyard—an architectural reinterpretation of the archetypal “core” as a place of gathering, interaction, and orientation. Four independent volumes are arranged around this inner nucleus, connected by a continuous gallery that transforms circulation into experience. Rather than a mere corridor, this space becomes the heart of the building—a permeable threshold where movement, play, and social interaction unfold in constant dialogue with the courtyard. The architecture challenges the notion of the kindergarten as an enclosed institution, instead offering a porous, open environment where interior and exterior are inseparably linked.
The modular system underpins the project’s flexibility, allowing the composition to adapt to various contexts while preserving its conceptual integrity. Each block functions as an autonomous unit, yet remains part of a larger spatial whole, unified through proportion, rhythm, and movement.
Natural light plays a generative role in shaping space. Openings and roof apertures draw daylight deep into the interior, establishing a soft, balanced atmosphere that supports both learning and rest. The careful orientation of volumes ensures optimal insolation while maintaining thermal comfort and environmental efficiency.
Materiality is guided by durability and clarity. Wood-textured composite surfaces, combined with restrained detailing, create a tactile and resilient architectural expression that responds to both human scale and long-term use.
Set within a calm, green landscape near the river, the project extends beyond the building envelope. Outdoor spaces, pathways, and vegetation form an integral part of the educational environment, encouraging exploration, movement, and sensory engagement.
Ultimately, the architecture emerges as a dynamic and playful composition—where shifting volumes, varied scales, and expressive rooflines evoke the spontaneity of play itself, shaping an environment that nurtures imagination, belonging, and the child’s first spatial awareness of the world.
