About
Located on a steep hillside in Napetvrebi overlooking the valleys surrounding Tbilisi, the house is designed as a natural extension of the landscape. Rather than imposing an orthogonal footprint, the building follows the irregular geometry of the 400 m² site, allowing the architecture to emerge from the terrain while maximizing views and preserving the existing topography.
The house is organized across split levels that respond to nearly seven meters of elevation change, minimizing excavation and integrating the building into the slope. Public spaces occupy the lower levels, opening onto generous terraces and a swimming pool, while private rooms are positioned above to ensure privacy and panoramic views. Large south-facing openings maximize natural daylight throughout the year and establish a continuous relationship between the interior and the surrounding landscape.
The architectural expression is defined by a restrained palette of exposed concrete, natural timber, and stone. Horizontal roof planes emphasize the building's relationship with the terrain, while deep overhangs provide passive solar protection and create sheltered outdoor living areas. Designed around the principles of light, topography, and simplicity, the project seeks to create a contemporary home that belongs to its site rather than sits upon it
